This book, naturally has more information about the events that transpired during the Boer War and of the past of the young lieutenant who wrote this book. I enjoyed this book, but obviously not the tragic events it covers.

A concise account of a signal event in one of history's saddest chapters--the English persecution of the Boers of South Africa, written by an Australian officer in a British Army unit formed to combat the commando tactics of the Boers. The author was spared the fate of his commander, Breaker Morant, who was executed by firing squad, after being convicted of murdering Boer prisoners. The author, whose death sentence was commuted to life in prison by Lord Kitchener, the British supreme commander in South Africa, eventually was released from a British prison after serving only 27 months confinement. The invention of concentration camps by Kitchener, and the turning of a blind eye to the depredations of the British and Colonial armies, created a hatred for the British by the Boers which lingers in some quarters to this day, nearly one hundred twenty years later.

Really interesting storyline could use a bit more editing though. A lot of superfluous explanations and a lot of effort went into developing side characters which took away from the main story. It is reaching the point where there are at least five subplots and that is just the good guys. That said, it is a fun read and the main characters are all likeable. I will get the next book in the series when it comes out.

This is a great book and a great series. The author is a very good story teller and has created a very fun and interesting tale. I have already pre-ordered the next one in the series and look forward to reading it after it is released.

More painting the mists big difference between this book and book 1 is more povs, We start to see how the ending of book 1 effected everyone and finally see a antagonist that does not underestimate his foes but still gets thwarted at the end. Again no real fillers and that is good! and body cultivation! ;D

This installment seemed to take us to very dark places and held much less humor and endearment. The trials piled up endlessly and i cant help but wonder if the characters i fell in love with Will ever be the same

No spoilers.While the plot is going pretty well, I can't help feeling the book was rushed near the end. The characters continue to grow, a few of them seem to be stuck in a glitch. Peaceful characters are turning really blood thirst or depressed.Have good read.

Have been reading wuxia for a while and i truly enjoyed the first book. Unfortunatelly the second wasnt as good as the aforementioned one but still readable. I think i will follow the story

The second book in the series was quite different from book one, and many things happens to the characters. I however very much liked the direction this second book in the series took. I will continue to support and follow the series, I can only highly recommend it to others!

Blood Moon felt like a step up from the first novel due to several factors:1. We already got introduced to a lot of the wuxia/xinxia tropes in the first novel, so it didn’t feel like we just had to check tropes off the list throughout the entire novel. There were still some tropes, but I think the author was able to build on what he already setup. I personally found that a bit more interesting than the previous novel.2. The novel expands the Point of View (POV) character cast which allowed for some different perspectives while reading which was a welcome change. I think Cha Ming is a decent protagonist, but I don’t think he could carry the series by himself. My personal favorite POV character was Feng Ming as he progressed a significant amount over the story, and we got to see how he reacts to different circumstances and challenges. The quick POV scenes with Huxian were also great as they added some much-needed humor into the story.3. The side characters – non POV – were well executed. Some of them got more character development than others, but I think the author did a great job subverting my expectations with them, which was a lot of fun.The author had some basic economics worked into some of the events which I thought was a nice addition. I am interested to see if this will be developed further in the next novels.Overall, a well written western wuxia novel, and I look forward to reading book 3. 4.25/5.

This book is AMAZING! I was so worried that I was not going to do well because its been awhile since I had gone over the basics but this book saved me. I scored in the 90s on my HESI A2 so this book was my savior! I am terrible at chemistry and I still scored almost a 90. It provides great review in every section that is on the HESI. Hands down get this book!

I am currently in my first semester of nursing school, so not too long ago I had to take the HESI A2. I originally used the HESI A2 study book by Elsevier (the company that writes the HESI A2 test), and that book helped me for everything EXCEPT anatomy and physiology. With the help of the Elsevier book, I made an A on all the sections, but I made a C on the anatomy and physiology. I had to go back and do my own research for that section because the Elsevier book wasn’t specific enough. This book by Trivium, especially the A&P portion, are incredibly in depth and will help immensely with studying for the HESI A2. The math, English, and vocabulary sections are also great reviews. The HESI A2 English section asks a lot of the specific rules you learned in a high school English test, and this book does a great job at going over all of those concepts.There are plenty of practice questions (including an entire practice test), and they closely resemble the questions that I encountered when I took the HESI A2. These practice questions are what really makes a difference when studying for this test. The more practice questions you look at, the better your chance. I am very impressed with this practice book. I had heard that the Elsevier version, but this book is AMAZING as well. This book is a bit longer, but that’s because it goes more into depth on the really important concepts.I received this product at a reduced price in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion. I would suggest this book to anyone who is looking to better their chances at making a great score the next time they take the HESI A2.

I think the layout is perfect. I could easily differentiate sections and move quickly through the material. I also love the tips sprinkled throughout. I feel much more confident going into the exam now that I have this study guide under my belt! I can't offer any words of improvement as it seems to be excellent as it is.

I just took the HESI A2 on December 1st. This book in conjunction with the pocket prep app helped me get a score of 95! I only had to take the math, human a&p, grammar, and reading sections. This book presented the information in a way that was easy to follow and remember. The practice questions were very similar to the format of the actual test, so I felt prepared. I highly recommend this book to anyone needing to take the HESI for nursing!

I would give this product a rating of a 5/5 because it helped me gain understanding of the material and then checked my knowledge with the practice questions.This book allowed me to not just memorize the material but actually understand it on a deeper level. I loved the images in the book. The images helped out a lot especially since I'm a visual learner.

I really like how everything is very organized and seems to cover a little of everything. I have not taken my exam yet, so it is hard to say if it prepared me accurately or not. However, I can say that I feel confident and fond it very helpful as a study guide. I have been out of school for a while so reviewing everything was very important. It would have been nice to have the vocabulary words offered in a form to make into flash cards. Possibly through a download pdf file or something.

This book is great for getting back in the program of things. I have been taking a break from school for almost 2 years now and this book has really helped. It covers all the basics in every field needed for the Hesi Test. I have not taken the text yet, but I feel like this books is a really good study buddy!

I think the book is very well designed. Particularly I like that each section lists how you will be tested on the material. I also like the wide margins within the textbook because it allowed me to take notes right in the book as I was studying. I wish the word list in the vocabulary section had an example of the word used in a sentence for better understanding.

This 2 CD set (CD1 runs 1:19 in 11 Tracks/CD2 runs 1:08 in 7 Tracks) complements Pema's "No Time to Lose" commentary on Shantideva's classic on Bodhisattvas including a guided meditation on sharing happiness & the root of happiness at the very end. She begins (similar to her "Practicing Peace in Times of War") by addressing obstructions to happiness--our dysfunctional techniques to achieve it which actually cause unhappiness--"Moths are us," seeking the flame they destroy themselves. She proposes we develop "the courage to be happy" by facing our compulsions, habits, & addictions, using Buddhist precepts (a chart is included) to detox ourselves. Otherwise, our self-protective ego is a "walking target" (i.e. "offended waiting to happen"). "You need to acknowledge boundaries before you can dissolve them" (i.e. recognizing the problem is ½ the solution). We can avoid being irritable & miserable by developing virtue--as means not ends. She provides examples & exercises to accomplish this--e.g. reviewing our possessions to see which ones we are loath to give away & mentally giving away 100's of them. This parallels the standard Buddhist practice of "dedicating the merit" which Pema says connects us with the world--choosing freedom over a "poverty mentality."This set is a lovely introduction to Pema's Western approach to Tibetan Buddhism (with references to Nagarjuna, Shantideva, & Longchenpa)--especially recommended to those relatively unfamiliar with Pema's works. For those immersed in her works, it can serve as a refresher with a few additional insights & exercises--but not a great deal of new material. But, perhaps the greatest value in her audio & video recordings is the experience of "being with" Pema--the emotional or feeling value often equals or exceeds the intellectual or thinking value.

Her CD talks are so easy to listen to. She takes sometimes complex Buddhist concepts and makes them understandable for us Westerners. I love that she is "one of us" and therefore can relate to the North American lifestyle and therefore makes her concepts accessible to us. I would highly recommend any of her CDs.However, I should note that after you listen to a few different ones, they do start to sound the same. I like that however, because the more I hear the same things, the deeper is soaks into my soul, and brain!

Love this woman. She has a way of presenting the teachings in an easy-to-understand way that can be applied to every day life.

I had not listened to Pema speak until I bought Getting Unstuck and True Happiness...Found them both to be very uplifting and just great. She uses real life examples and is easy to understand to relate to. Great.

I love Pema Chodron, loved "When Things Fall Apart" especially. I guess I've only read and heard prepared writing from her before. This is a more conversational talk and was less packed with meaning than I expected.

Once again, the calming voice of Pema Chodron provides wisdom and sanity on this recording of an exceptional presentation she gave during a retreat at Gampo Abbey. Chock full of insights, lessons, and inspiration, this CD is sure to please Pema fans as well as those new to her teachings.

Incredibly wonderful words from an incredibly wonderful woman. Loving, peaceful, and very helpful in everyday practices and experiences. I listen to these tracks repeatedly, and they've set up camp in my life!

I love this book! I want my child to see more of his culture in the books I read to him so he has an understanding of where he came from. I also want him to see and hear from characters that look like him so he can look up to that ideal. The story is adorable and teaches the life lesson of working together to accomplish a mission as well as giving back to the community when you have much while others have so little. The artwork is beautiful and colorful and very engaging for my child! I love this book!

Really excellent story, and lovely imagery. I used this book to teach an art lesson to elementary school children that turned out really well. The book was large enough to show the whole class. I would suggest using it during the month of February for a lesson plan.

Good storyline to foster meaningful talks on black economics, unity in the family and community as well as preservation of the family.

Love this book for helping to teach the seven principles of Kwanzaa. It’s also got a great message about working together.

I purchased this book to use as a supplement to reading curriculum for third and fourth-graders in our local school. It's a fabulous story, and provided the students with a lot to talk about. They related easily to the concepts and enjoyed the illustrations, which were quite unique. It's a great story to read aloud and would make a super gift for any young reader.

While I've not been to Hong Kong, I've had supervisors and co-workers who were Hong Kong persons, and have done some reading about this unique cultural mix. Thus I can't speak for the accuracy of all details except to say that the ones I can verify are accurate.The authors' knowledge of the SAR is clearly that of the native, and an effort has been made to explain cultural nuances that a non-Hong Kong author might never have seen. (Example: the way of life of the vast majority of low-paid publicly-housed wage labourers, most of whom are Chinese.) Of course, there's a tradeoff: we do not get the perspective of a non-Hong Kong person as to what stands out. Ideally one author would have been native and another an immigrant.It was published, however, before the 1997 handover, so a lot has probably changed since then and I can't recommend it for those interested in the politics and government of Hong Kong. For those interested in the culture--which will change only slowly, barring drastic action by Beijing--it's a very useful reference.

The one star goes to facts including population and history about Hong Kong, much of which can be found on CIA fact sheets. The cultural content is absolutely more mainland Chinese than Hong Kong. Readers beware: some of the Chinese language used in the book is Putongua, not Cantonese. Guangxi for one, is Putongua used to be called Mandarin used in the mainland. Inconsistencies include an advice wearing black clothing to funerals, then say a contradictory one saying don't do it in the "do's and dont's" list. A list of recommended movies are either Chinese mainland or Taiwanese productions, no specific Hong Kong production. Much of the "situations" are not accurate. For example, the elderly in Hong Kong don't ask strangers their age and income. These questions are common in China even if in a taxi ride. There is a BIG difference between Chinese cultures. Finally, for heaven's sake please update the photos.
