I am old enough to remember watching Fulton Sheen's television show, and have read other books he authored. But this book takes you on a tour of the sins that cripple our souls, and points out the cause and remedy for each. Frequent reference is made to examples from the lives of Jesus and Mary. This is not a theology treatise, nor a shame game. It is a flood light showing you the inner workings of our human weaknesses. I believe that starting from the advice in this book, by way of humility and perseverance, prayer and sacraments, victory is possible.
I read this book during one morning. I cannot say enough good about it. Inspiring, fascinating, enlightening, encouraging. I will read this book again and I will look for other books by the Venerable Fulton J. Sheen.

An unforgetable moment.
this is the 4th copy i have purchased. it is my car copy. if i am going to the Dr. or have to wait somewhere i pull out this book. i have also given the book to people that needed to hear what Father Sheen has to say. Very simple to read and you can do it in small amounts. i believe this book changes people for the better.
This is a short book, but filled with many important things to ponder. There are seven chapters, each one devoted to one of the seven deadly sins. Bishop Sheen describes each of the sins in detail and shows how they destroy the soul of the one who partakes in them. He of course, gives advice on how we can overcome such vices.One interesting thing that he does is start each chapter with a quote from Jesus on the cross (one of the seven last words of Christ). In doing so, he is claiming that each one of Christ's seven last words corresponded to something about each one of the seven deadly sins. It was quite interesting, and something that is worth contemplating.Of course, Bishop Sheen is a lucid writer, and he is always an easy and enjoyable read.
no one covers Catholic Theology like Bishop Sheen, in this book you will find the key to learning what most people have no clue to knowing,and that is SELF! the book deals with vices that we readily see in others and that we in fact are guilty of ourselves. in order to love God fully(and our neighbor)we have to root out these vices from our daily lives! this book is a big step in accomplishing that.
It was a quick read. I was hoping for a few more ideas and suggestions. It was well written and easy to understand.
