I’ve a long time Curtis fan. Even have a tattoo for him. I’m just on chapter 3 of the book, and so far it’s mostly about making and selling drugs. I know that’s what he did, but expected more substance in the material. I think it’s because he wrote the book when he was young, and didn’t have too much life experience outside of the drug game. Still a devoted fan. Loved his 50th Law book though.

I have been a fan of 50 cent for a long time and this book told a lot more about his life that the movie did not touch on. The movie was obviously fictionalized but this book is supposed to be the truth of growing up in the hood. Some parts may be disturbing to some readers but overall it is not that graphic, although it does include sex, drugs and violence.

I saw 50 cent on the Chelsea Lately show recently. Until then, I hadn't given him a second thought. I honestly figured he was just another thug rapper type (I am not into rap). However, after seeing his interview, I found him charming and articulate. I found myself wanting to know more about him. This was the first book I downloaded on my Kindle. It was a great story. It is amazing and inspiring. It was brutally honest, and I respect that. After reading his book, I am amazed at how he has overcome so many struggles. I would never have guessed he was a high school drop out. It is clear that he is a gifted individual, and I personally find him much more endearing than Kayne, P Diddy...or any of the others. I may actually give his music a listen!

I love this book. 50 Cents tells his story with lots of integrity. He kept things real and to me made no attempt on hiding his experiences. I became more aware that life is what you make of it. Knowing what you desire in life is important to navigating the experiences and steps. He truly deserve all the good things that he has in his life. He really worked for what ever he has, and his gratitude, appreciation for his grandmother and recognizing support and help is a bonus. Very remarkable story of courage, survival, fearlessness, and bravery. To me he seems very intuitive, and a great soul.

Good book

This book definitely had me glued for the 3 days I read it for. It had a very simple writing style which kept me running through the pages. It was creative enough to keep me entertained and it had just enough humor to keep me chuckling. I'd recommend it for anyone looking for an easy, quick, and entertaining read.

I recently purchased this book for my fiance, who, obviously, loves 50 Cent. He read the first 50 pages the day it arrived, and I must tell you, he is NOT the type of person to sit down and read a book. It's about 50's life in Southside Queens and his experiences as a child up until his fame. While my fiance finds this book inspirational and exciting, I find the writing style to be fairly simple with 50 reiterating well-known facts (ex. You can't have life without death) and also presenting himself as an arrogant, almost martyr-type of character. Why do I say that? He talks about himself and his experiences in life (which may or may not be exaggerated) and repeatedly states that what he has gone through should be used as an example to others. He blames the media for his portrayal as a "bullet riddled rapper" but obviously, 50 uses it to his advantage without much complaint. He tries to come off as a mentor and inspiration, but I really did find him irritating at times. I think their are better role models for others to look up to. I'd rather read Sidney Poitier's memoirs than idolize 50 Cent. But that's just my view. For 50 Cent lovers, they'll be inspired and amazed.

A great book about 50's come up and his struggles to leave the drug game behind. Unlike these other supposed rap hustlers, 50 depicts his time selling drugs and depicts how if it hadn't been for the rap game, he would've gotten lost forever within the crack game. Read this book it's a must read on all levels.

I got this book during a period of public discount which made it nearly free, but no review was required or promised.I wish this book had more pictures in it, but the recipes are good. It does have some pictures, and they are all very nice, full color, large photos. I just really love it when there is one for every recipe.It is a very comprehensive book for ice cream lovers- it discusses ingredients, equipment, and techniques. The step by step directions are complete and clear. There are ample recipes for ice creams, ices, sorbets, and other frozen treats based on fruits/juice/creams. I loved also that there are topping recipes included, such as the perfect whipped cream, fudge sauce, ect.It is a paperback. It's easy to handle and not too thick or heavy, but there are a lot of good recipes in it. Maple Walnut is my favorite. I appreciated that the author remembers even little things- like removing skins off walnuts- that are included to help the ice cream be the best it can be. I love chocolate, and there are a lot of really good looking chocolate ice cream recipes that I can't wait to try. The ingredients are very easy to find, but these recipes do often use a LOT of cream and custard type cooked recipes with eggs. I did not see a lot of condensed milk in the recipes, instead, where I'd expect to see that, the recipes called for milk and sugar. The recipes don't take a lot of shortcuts, but that all equals to the very best ice cream in my experience.

I got an ice cream maker attachment for my Kitchenaid Stand Mixer as a wedding gift. This book has helped me put it to good use! There are a variety of recipes, from familiar ice cream flavors to more inventive, from bright and fruity sherbets and sorbets to boozy desserts. There are even recipes for mix-ins like the perfect cookies for cookies and cream ice cream or cookies for ice cream sandwiches.I have already made the lime sherbet and it was fresh and full of flavor (much better than store bought and not unnaturally green). I have my eye on London Fog (Earl Gray) ice cream next.This book would be perfect to gift with an ice cream maker on a wedding registry. The recipe book that comes with the machines is very basic!I received this book for free for my honest and unbiased review.

The recipes are straight forward and simple. The reasoning of simple ingredients is because they feels that by using the highest quality organic produce & dairy, and seasonal, the tastier the ice cream will be. It is true because using seasonal fruit is sweeter, thus using less sugar. There are a few recipes that do not require the use of an ice cream machine.

I am very disappointed that there are no recipes in this book that can't be found everywhere else. I was hoping for some recipes using unusual ingredients.The only difference that I can see between these recipes and any others is that these are much richer, using a dozen egg yolks and extreme amounts of heavy cream per recipe.

Was not as happy with the book as I anticipated. Lots of recipes but, many require a boat-load of eggs. Not as many healthy recipes as I wanted either.

I remember making ice cream when I was a kid with my grandmother. This book had so many options for so many frozen treats - including combinations and flavors I never would have thought of! It doesn't stop with just the ice cream either -- it has ideas for what to do with said ice cream, toppings, etc. A great cookbook for anyone who loves ice cream!I received this product at a discounted rate in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

I'd like to see a consistent recipe volume. Some are 1 Quart, ,some 1.5 Quart and some 2. I would have gone with 1 Quart as a standard. If you want more, double the batch.

Still a great story, but completely different from the original book. I attached a couple pics to show this. The overall story is the same & the artwork is similar & still very lovely, but the cleverness in both, was somewhat lost in this “remastered” version of the story.

So, we picked up maybe a dozen books for a 3 year old nephew that was staying with us for a long weekend. Unfortunately, about 10 of them never got any attention because he insisted upon this book every time after reading it the first night! Any attempt to open another would get met with a very insistent "TADPOLE!!" so I probably could recite this one from memory at this point. However, though reading the same book over and over can be annoying, it is a cute story and obviously a sign that kids get a kick out of it. We did send it home with him, so I'm sure by now his parents are thanking us for that :).

I was so excited to buy this for my daughter because I loved it as a child. Both the text and the artwork have been changed! The new art is way more “modern,” the colors are saturated instead of wispy and seventies. It feels like when George Lucas did those crappy Star Wars special editions. I guess I’ll have to go find a vintage original!

This story is so adorable! I bought this for my niece and she loves it!

SUCH A GREAT BOOK. I love Steven Kellogg. His books make me and the kid happy at the same time. So much wonderful imagination and creativity in each one. I did I mention that this is such a great book?!?!

it arrived early in time for school to start. it is a wonderful story. I am sure my students will love it.

Worth the investment in this special edition. The writing is wonderful. There is so much personality to this book's settings and characters; I notice more details with every reading.

A very readable and informative book by the world's greatest classicist about the cradle of Western Civilization the Parthenon. I have been to the Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum and have viewed the Elgin marbles many times at the British Museum and can testify that Professor Beard hits the mark on each of these places. She even solved a mystery for me about an orange color on some of the marbles that I thought was a problem caused by my camera. The color really exists on some of the pieces and she explains what it is. I read this book in the depths of winter and I yearn for my return to the Parthenon and the Acropolis Museum this spring with a now enlightened eye for detail.

There is an old saying that one kills the thing one loves. Given the treatment meted out to some of the world's treasures, this certainly must have a grain of truth. Of course it is rare for humanity to recognize a world treasure during it's initial creation. The Mona Lisa was not the painting that it is now until the 19th century. This book on the Parthenon proves just how hard it is to win the acclaim of the world and just how many times we came close to losing it.Probably no monument has had a harder time of it than the Parthenon. It has since 5th century BC been burnt, sacked, looted, converted to a Christian Church, defaced (by Christians), turned into a mosque, defaced (by Moslems), additions added and then removed, in 1687 blown up by the Venetians. The unkindest cut of all was when Lord Elgin gathered up the 5th century sculptures and carvings and shipped them off to London where they eventually found a home at the British Museum. It is all a fascinating, if sad story of the iconic monument to the glorious 5th century of Athenian history.Mary Beard the historian of the classical age has provided and excellent synopsis of the past 2,500 years of this building's history and provides context to many of the developments which shaped its past and present. The section discussing the differences between the Athenian version of democracy (probably about 3% participating on a regular basis, much like in the early days of the US republic) and just how fleeting this concept was even as a thing exercised by elites and for elites. This is a well done addition to the "wonders of the world" series.

This is an exhaustive, fabulous treatise on one of the most venerable monuments to classical history the world has ever known. Beard takes us through the entire history of the Parthenon. She details for us its probable early use as a temple to Athena (as well as some other theories) as well as its less known utility as a Christian church and Mosque in later ages.Along the way, Beard offers us statements concerning the Parthenon from various historical and modern personages. Some are profound, some are not. Some simply advertise their ignorance (such as the not-so-venerable Shaquille O'Neal). Then again, since she refrains from taking a position, perhaps that in itself WILL offend some people? I don't know.There is also a background section on the disastrous explosion of 1687. It was caused by the Ottoman Empire using (mis-using!) the Parthenon as an arsenal. Not suprisingly, this made it a target for the Venetians and.....you can guess the rest. What is less known is that 300 people perished when the Parthenon exploded. That's an unfortunate detail that is many times overlooked in history classes. As usual, Beard does an excellent job of giving the whole story of what took place.If you possess an interest in the Parthenon and / or ancient Greece in general, this book is a can't miss. For anyone who wishes to tour Greece (or the British museum in London), this book is highly recommended as well. Even if you only have a passing interest in history per-se, this book will give you an avenue to enjoy the Parthenon & all of its frieze and sculptoral splendor.

Like her earlier book, The Colosseum, this book by Mary Beard provides a good summary of the history and significance of a great old building. Also, like that book it suffers from the lack of color illustrations, but in this case the black and white illustrations are mostly of much better quality. The Parthenon has a quite fascinating and rich history: a thousand years as a pagan temple, another thousand years as a Christian church, and almost four hundred years as an Islamic mosque. It suffered both depredations and preservation under the ownership of Christians and Muslims. Like many ancient buildings, its survival to this day probably is due to its conversion to church and then mosque. Otherwise, almost certainly its valuable carvings and stonework would have been carted off wholesale long before it would have had a chance to be appreciated as an architectural treasure. Of course, much of the sculpture was carted off by various collectors, most notably the notorious Lord Elgin. But at least these “Elgin Marbles” ended up in a safe place, the British Museum, where they are well cared for and accessible to the public. But the Greeks want them back! And the Greeks have an even better place, the new Acropolis Museum, to show the world these ancient works of art. Mary Beard covers the controversy over ownership of the Parthenon sculptures in Chapter Six of this book. Although she’s a Brit, she tries to take a neutral stance in this political and cultural brawl, but I sense that she favors keeping them where they are.

Thoughtful, literate, witty: excellent overview of the building both in antiquity and thereafter, right up to the present. Recommended.

I am loving this story i can’t honestly wait to see what’s next?! .. i can’t wait to find out what’s Harley going to discover on all the secret behind her family & the truth behind this whole mess! i honestly can’t wait to see what the futures hold for her! I am sill not a huge fan of all the different Pov but I am getting used to it but Harley is my favourite character. Finally Katherine Shipton shows up albeit at the end of this book. I would have thought they would have tried to remove the suppressor by now if they need Harley to be more powerful but it rarely comes up and her broken esprit has yet to be fixed. Definitely more action on this book but too many loose ends that detract from the story.

Can't wait to see what Harley does next! I just wish that Wade would kiss her already! Those 2 where made for each other. Oh, then there is Santana Raffe! WOW now there's definitely romance and passion in that relationship starting up! Raffe bad side I gotta admit is kinda hot! Keep the books coming Bella! Your an incredible author!

Like I dont want to spoil it for yall so all I'm gonna say if hold on for dear life reading this book I have so many questions and I need answers! Bella Forrest always dose an amazing job with her books but this one .. just wow you have to read it

If you love her Shade of Vampire series you will love Harley Merlin and her friends. Well written can't wait for the next book. Hope she keeps this series going as she has with her Shade of Vampire series developing her characters and creating new generations to love.

Love the way the series is written. The book moves along at a good pace. The characters all seem to has a believable role that they fulfill which makes the reader care about each one. At the end of each book, I can not wait for the next book to be released.

Stumbled across the first book when I was looking for something new and different to read. Rarely does an author grab you and suck you into a book but this is what Bella has done. I anxiously await each release and gobble up the pages when it hits my Kindle. Great job. Although I want to know what the letter said! I can't wait 2 more weeks! 😂

As a Postulant for Holy Orders, this book tells me everything I need to know about where to stand, how to read the Gospel, when the bishop takes off his/her mitre, and anything else I might need to know as a deacon within a service of worship. Plater does a wonderful job of walking the reader through each type of service within the Book of Common Prayer and the Prayer Book of the Anglican Church of Canada. He also provides additional resources for continuing education. This is a very readable, short book that will be a "go to" resource for me for years to come.

DEACONS IN THE LITURGY is written for Anglicans/Episcopalians in North America. As such, it will be of interest primarily to people of that communion. That does not stop it from having a wider appeal.What this book does so well and so simply is explain the role of the diaconate in the various liturgies of the church. It tells what to do and when to do it providing an expansion to the rubrics of the BOOK OF COMMON PRAYER. It does not delve very much into history but does bring history up to justify certain acts. It explains the diaconal functions from an ancient and ecumenical context and then makes some provision for modern practice and usage. At all stages, the relevant passages from the BCP and other US and Canadian resources are referenced. It is a great guide for Anglican deacons but it has more potential as well.Without explicitly saying so, the book describes many functions that have wider acceptance than just the Anglican Communion. Usually, these are evident by the lack of specific citations but they should be readily apparent to anyone with a passing knowledge of liturgy. This helps to differentiate denominational practice from wider practice and this book is simple enough, short enough and well written enough to be of use to others. This is especially true for United Methodists.The United Methodist Church revived the permanent diaconate in 1996. Since the most recent BOOK OF WORSHIP was published in 92, it has no knowledge of deacons in liturgical functions. They are left to founder or make things up as they go along. The institutional United Methodist Church needs to address this problem but this book would be an excellent stopgap measure for UM deacons. This is especially true since UM liturgy is inherited from the Church of England.A Must for Deacons!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this powerful little volume. It made clear the need of and the functionality of Deacons in the worship life of every congregation. As a bishop I learned much that, unfortunately, I didn’t already know. I’m going to meet with my Deacons and Remedy many things in our relationships and worship leading capacities.

This is an excellent book to explain the duties of the deacon at eucharist. Also ordination. Highly recommend.

This is the definitive book on the role of a deacon in the liturgy as prescribed in the Book of Common Prayer of the Episcopal Church. Not only does Deacon Plater outline the function of diaconal ministry in the liturgy, but also describes the significance of these functions historically, theologically, and symbolically. Should be required reading for all deacons, but priests and bishops as well.

This small book provides important information about what deacons do. You'll also learn names of liturgical garments that you never knew existed. Also, learn where deacons place their stoles.That was new to me.I would have liked a bit about what it's like to be a deacon but that's a book someone else will write or maybe already has.

I finally found the book i was looking for. It has a lot of good info in a small package. I wish it were hard bound as I believe i will wear the paperback out quickly. If you are a Deacon Postulant or newly ordained deacon this might be a help to you- Only reason for four stars was it is paperback not harboundMike

About the Authors Nicholas A. Ashford, Ph.D., J.D., is Professor of Technology and Policy at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he teaches courses in Environmental and Occupational Health Law and Policy. He was Chairman of the National Advisory Committee on Occupational Safety and Health, served as Chairman of the Committee on Technology, Innovation, and Economics of the EPA National Advisory Council for Environmental Policy and Technology, and was a member of the EPA Science Advisory Board. He is a Fellow of the American Association of Science and serves as an advisor to the United Nations Environmental Program. He holds a Doctorate in Chemistry and a Law Degree from the University of Chicago, where he received graduate training in Economics. Claudia S. Miller, M.D., M.S., is Assistant Professor in Environmental and Occupational Medicine in the Department of Family Practice at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. She is boarded in Internal Medicine and in Allergy and Immunology, and holds a Masters Degree in Environmental Health. Prior to entering medical school, she worked as an industrial hygienist and served on the National Advisory Committee on Occupational Safety and Health. Since 1993, she has been an environmental consultant to the Houston VA Regional Referral Center for Gulf War veterans. She holds appointments on two national scientific panels, the Department of Veterans Affairs' Persian Gulf Expert Scientific Committee and the National Toxicology Board of Scientific Counselors. Her research focuses on the health effects of low-level environmental chemical exposures including indoor air pollutants, pesticides, and chemicals used during the Gulf War.

This is the most in-depth and academically thorough and honest approach I have seen on this complex topic.

Very informative book with lots of research to back up the conclusions. Gave me some ideas why my children have allergies.

I bought this book online because I am chemically sensitive and can no longer go in libraries. Unfortunately, the book itself gave off some fragrance so I cannot read it.
